DROUGHT RELIEF & SUPPORT

Objective

To help most affected small and marginal farmer .Landless and single women to overcome impact of prevailing drought by activating government machinery of employment water, fodder and PDS.

Work Area

Lokkalyan Charitable Trust will work in 15 affected villages in their operational blocks Maan in satara districts.

Activity

1. Awareness meetings with villages about prevailing drought situation and strategies to mobilize employment water, fodder, and PDS food grains (village level meetings of use of Kalapathak or video films of government or drought studies)
2. Planning meetings of sarpanch gram sevak, front line government officials and community leaders about demanding employment, water fodder and PDS from government department at maan block in satara districts
3. Make available manuals operated 30 fodder cutters to provide nutritious and Healthy fodder to animals to avoid mouth disease from fodder, especially from sugarcane leaves
4. Emergency support to support drought relief in 15 villages and fodder depots or water supply for animals in 15 project villages.
5. From 15 Drought affected villages of Maan block of satara district on an average 4 to 5000 people from poor communities will get employment and stop migration to cities and towns
6. Drinking water and fodder will be available to 5000 people, Drinking water and fodder will be available to 5000 animals
7. PDS shops and Anna sureaksha Yojana for farmer (Maharashtra govt. special scheme for drought affected farmers in state) is and make available subsidized food gains to all eligible poor people in 15 villages,
